Freedom of information act - the public has the right to information that is held by public sector organisations. During the research stage of any media product, such as news industry, access to this data can be requested from many different sources using this act.
Intellectual property act - If you have worked to produce a piece of work such as images, script, article or graphic then it is your intellectual property. if someone wants to use it they require your permission. if you produce the work while working for an organisation, you don't own the intellectual property of that item; the organisation you work for does
Data protection act - if you collect data about individuals during the creation of a media product then the data protection act must be adhered to or you could face a lawsuit. personnel data could be connected

Libel - When a media product is published that contains information about someone that is untrue and damaging to their reputation. This can be writing, video, imagery or radio
Slander - Carries the same legal implications as label and involves making a false statement in the spoken work
Bauer media group was sued by rebel wilson - wrote false article about her - OK magazine (2015)
said she lied about age upbringing and livelihood - she was fired from Kung Fu panda and trolls
if it is someones opinion or can be proved it is allowed
