3 main types: 
used during planning 
The sitemap available for people viewing the website
A structure (coded) list designed for search engines 

Wireframes:


A wireframe is a blueprint of a website 

A visual representation of the framework of a website 


Advantages:
- to help arrange the site for a specific purpose 
- Shows the website layout 
- shows how different elements of the site interact with each other 


Disadvantages: 
Docent focus on colours, style or graphics 
focus = functionality - what it does, not how it looks 
Can be hand drawn sketches or completed via online software 
Created by: business analyst, user experience designers, developers and visual designers 
expertise required: interaction design. information architecture and user research
