What is it about ?
The phone hacking of people who they were investigating for the news

they listen to voicemails 
listening to peoples personal secrets

Invasion of privacy

Are these legal or ethical issues ?
legal issues - as they broke the law 
Ethical issues - as people 

Was the law broken ?
The law was broken as they hacked into peoples phones 


How do you know the difference ?
the difference is that what they were doing was against the law making it illegal and not 


An ethical issue in media is something that instead of going against the law it instead the moral idealisms of what people consider acceptable and not acceptable to the majority for people living in modern society such as hacking voicemails giving people a false sense of their kids being alive 



Ethics in media is about doing the right/moral thing. something may be legally correct. but is it right thing to do 

Considering the ethical impact of a media product is important to ensure the product does not cause offence or bother the using/consuming it. 

Some of the areas that effect ethics in media are: 
  • Code of practise 
  • Privacy rights 
  • Public interest 
  • levels of violence 
  • Representation of groups

- Causes offense to people who has anaphylactic shock
